Our Story
It all started with a fighter...
Joyful Fighter was started in 2016 in honor of my daughter, Candice. Born with a long list of medical issues, including Congenital Heart Defect (CHD), we spent the majority of our days in the hospital or at doctors' appointments.
Like most moms, I was always looking for ways to bring joy to our crazy life. Part of this joy came in the form of playing dress up: I handmade custom hospital gowns for Candice so she could wear something special on her birthday or something comforting for a procedure.
It never ceased to amaze me how something so small—a frilly dress in her favorite color—could make such a big impact on Candice and everyone around her.
On January 23, 2016, Candice became our angel, and we began our plans for what is today Joyful Fighter: a line of hospital-grade, doctor-approved medical gowns for children. They're colorful, celebratory, cozy and completely unique—and, while they look nothing like a traditional medical gown, they're designed for hospital stays, scans, operations and more.
Today, my team and I work every day in Candice's memory to make hospital life and doctors' appointments a little more bearable (and a little less scary) for families like ours. I hope our gowns serve to bring you or someone you know a little bit of joy.
In honor of all of the joyful fighters out there
